60 Ecommerce Stats and Trends You Need to Know
October 09, 2018
Ecommerce trends, technology, and tactics change so fast, even the X-Men's Quicksilver would find it difficult to keep pace. Yet companies that fail to keep current are companies that can all too easily lose ground to the competition.
That's why Subscriptionly, a review site for subscription boxes, put together an exhaustive infographic of trends and stats that it believes will define ecommerce going forward. The entire graphic is below, but amongst the most telling stats:
• More than half of consumers stopped shopping with a company after just one bad customer service interaction. You can have the best products, the lowest prices, and the most gorgeous website, but if a product isn't delivered when expected or a service rep fails to respond to an email politely and in a timely manner, those advantages fade in significance.
• Mobile commerce is expected to account for 45% of all ecommerce revenue by 2020. If your site still isn't mobile optimised, you need to make it so, pronto.
• Consumers are up to 85% more likely to make a purchase after viewing a video, and 60% would rather watch a video than read a product description.
• Nearly three-quarters of shoppers use multiple channels when shopping—comparing prices online before making an in-store purchase, for instance, or reading about an item in a catalogue, visiting a store to check it out, then ordering it online.
